Cataract Services
Cataracts are a common eye condition that occur when the natural lens in your eye becomes cloudy, leading to blurred vision and difficulty seeing clearly. Think of it like having a foggy window that gradually obstructs your sight.
As cataracts progress, they can impact daily activities such as reading, watching TV, driving (especially at night), and doing other activities you enjoy. Fortunately, cataract removal is a safe and effective procedure that involves replacing the cloudy lens with a clear artificial lens. This surgery not only restores clarity to your vision but also enhances your overall quality of life, allowing you to see the world more vividly and enjoy activities with greater ease.
If you’re experiencing these symptoms, it’s important to be seen by an ophthalmologist to discuss your cataracts, how they are impacting your life, and consider cataract surgery to greatly improve vision.
Below are services provided to be able to meet your vision goals following surgery!
Cataract Surgery Packages:
Basic Cataract Surgery
Covered by insurance when certain criteria are met, though does not involve astigmatism correction and will correct for 1 distance (far, intermediate, or near). This is called a “monofocal” lens. You will need glasses following surgery.
Astigmatism Correcting Cataract Surgery
This involves reshaping the cornea using a corneal incision during surgery, or a special astigmatism correcting intraocular lens (“toric lens”). This option decreases the likelihood of needing glasses for distance, though you will need glasses for the computer and reading.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
Refractive Lens Exchange, also referred to as Clear Lens Extraction (CLE), is a procedure that removes the eye’s natural lens and replaces it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. It is similar to cataract surgery but performed primarily for refractive purposes to significantly reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses – especially for patients > 40 (with mild or no cataracts) or who may not be a candidate for LASIK surgery.
Premium Cataract Surgery
See far, intermediate, and sometimes near distances effortlessly with advanced technology premium lenses, reducing the need for glasses and providing a comprehensive vision correction solution. This also includes astigmatism correction.
- Light Adjustable Lens (LAL): Uses UV light treatments to adjust lens power after surgery to customize your exact prescription. Most accurate way to correct vision following cataract surgery. Uses blended vision to create a range of vision from distance to near. Minimal to no glare/halos. Requires several post-operative visits for adjustments following surgery.
- Multifocal Intraocular Lenses (MFIOL): Excellent distance, intermediate, and near vision. Moderate glare and halos, though full range of vision without glasses.
- Extended Depth of Focus Lenses (EDOF): Excellent distance and intermediate vision. Minimal glare and halos, though will need reading glasses for near vision.

In addition, we also offer quick, painless in-office laser procedures including YAG Capsulotomy, to remove cloudiness that may develop over time on the intraocular lens following cataract surgery.
It is important to note that some patients may not be a candidate for premium lenses (depending on other ocular conditions), and that no outcome including glasses independence can be guaranteed with 100% certainty.
